Support for Parents of Autistic & ADHD Children

Cheshire & UK

Supporting you to better understand and support your child.

Parenting a neurodivergent child or young person can feel complex, especially when you’re trying to understand their needs while navigating systems that don’t always fit them. You may be supporting a child who is autistic, ADHD, or experiences the world differently, and finding that typical parenting advice doesn’t work.

You might be noticing…

  • Everyday routines can quickly become overwhelming

  • Your child seems fine at school but falls apart at home

  • You’re dealing with meltdowns, shutdowns or heightened emotions

  • School feels like a constant struggle or source of stress

  • You’re unsure how much to push and when to step back

  • Advice you’ve been given doesn’t seem to fit your child

  • You feel exhausted from trying to hold everything together

What might really be going on…

Many of the behaviours that feel confusing or challenging are not about defiance or refusal.

They are often linked to:

  • Overwhelm

  • Sensory processing

  • Anxiety

  • Difficulty with transitions or expectations

When we begin to understand what’s underneath, everything starts to make more sense, and we can respond differently.

How I can support you

  • Explore what’s really going on for your child

  • Support for school refusal (EBSA or ESBNA)

  • Help you understand their needs more clearly

  • Look at practical ways to reduce overwhelm at home

  • Support you in responding to challenging moments with more confidence

  • Create approaches that feel right for your family (not one-size-fits-all)

  • This is a space where you can talk openly, without judgement.

Support with school and navigating the system

For many parents, one of the most overwhelming parts of this journey is navigating the school system.

You may be:

  • Unsure how to approach conversations with school

  • Preparing for meetings and not knowing what to say

  • Feeling that your child’s needs aren’t fully understood

  • Trying to advocate for your child while doubting yourself

  • Receiving advice or feedback that doesn’t quite feel right

This can leave you feeling frustrated, unheard, and unsure of what to do next.

In our work together, I can support you to:

  • Gain clarity on what your child needs

  • Feel more confident going into conversations and meetings

  • Better understand the language and expectations within the system

  • Explore how to communicate your child’s needs clearly and calmly

  • Feel more grounded in the decisions you are making

This is not about becoming confrontational, it’s about feeling informed, confident and supported in how you advocate for your child.

What I Offer

I offer one-to-one support for parents through specialist mentoring and wellbeing coaching.

Both provide support, but with different focuses depending on what you need.

Specialist Mentoring

Specialist mentoring is more practical and guidance-based.

It focuses on helping you:

  • Understand your child’s needs and behaviour

  • Make sense of patterns such as overwhelm, shutdown, or emotional responses

  • Develop approaches that work in day-to-day life

  • Navigate challenges such as school, routines, and communication

Wellbeing Coaching

Wellbeing coaching offers space to reflect, process, and gain clarity.

It supports you to:

  • Think more deeply about your situation

  • Make decisions with greater confidence

  • Understand your own responses and patterns

  • Feel more grounded and in control

Support for your child

Alongside parent support, I also offer 1:1 mentoring and well-being coaching for young people.

This can help your child:

  • Better understand themselves

  • Manage emotions and overwhelm

  • Build confidence in a way that works for them

  • Some families choose parent support, some choose mentoring, and some combine both.

Not Sure Which Type of Support Is Right?

If you’re unsure, we can talk this through together and decide on the most appropriate approach. The most important thing is finding support that feels helpful for you and your family.

Parent Mentoring may be helpful if:

  • You would like practical guidance and strategies

  • You are navigating a diagnosis or new understanding of your child

  • You would value insight from both professional and lived experience

Coaching may be helpful if:

  • You would like space to reflect on your own experiences

  • You are feeling overwhelmed or burnt out

  • You want support exploring your own thoughts and decisions

Book a Discovery Call

If you would like to explore whether mentoring or coaching might be helpful, you are very welcome to arrange a short discovery call.

There is no pressure to commit.

How Sessions Work

Support is delivered through one-to-one online sessions for parents.

Sessions typically include:

• 60-minute sessions
• Delivered online
