SEND, Autism & ADHD Support

for Schools in Cheshire

Specialist Support For Neurodivergent Students

Schools are increasingly supporting neurodivergent students with a wide range of needs, including autism, ADHD and challenges related to anxiety, overwhelm or transitions.

Specialist mentoring and wellbeing coaching can provide an additional layer of structured support, helping students better understand themselves, develop practical strategies and engage more confidently with education.

When the right support is in place early, students are more likely to feel understood, engage with learning and experience greater success in school.

You may be noticing…

  • Students struggling to access learning

  • Emotional dysregulation in the classroom

  • School avoidance or attendance concerns

  • Staff feeling unsure how best to respond

  • Strategies not having the expected impact

  • Increasing pressure on SENCOs and pastoral teams

Looking beneath behaviour

Many behaviours that present as challenging are linked to unmet needs, overwhelm, or difficulties with processing and regulation. When students are supported to understand what is driving their experiences at a deeper level, this can lead to improved regulation, engagement and overall outcomes within the school environment.

How I can support your school

Specialist Mentoring for Neurodivergent Students

Specialist mentoring supports autistic and ADHD students who may experience barriers to learning linked to their neurodivergence.

Sessions focus on helping students develop practical strategies that support learning, organisation and emotional regulation within the school environment.

Mentoring may be helpful for students who:

• Struggle with organisation or executive functioning
• Experience anxiety or overwhelm in school
• Find transitions or changes in routine difficult
• Experience emotionally based school non-attendance (EBSA)
• Find it difficult to communicate their needs or ask for help

Support is delivered through structured one-to-one mentoring sessions, helping students build confidence, independence and sustainable strategies for managing learning.

Mentoring is typically delivered as a 12-week programme, with sessions tailored to the individual needs of the student.

Wellbeing Coaching for Young People

Alongside specialist mentoring, wellbeing coaching is available for students who would benefit from support with confidence, emotional wellbeing and personal development.

This support can be particularly helpful for students who may be experiencing:

• Low confidence or self-esteem
• Friendship or relationship challenges
• Anxiety or emotional overwhelm
• Pressure related to school or exams
• Uncertainty about future direction
• Motivation or engagement difficulties

Wellbeing coaching provides a calm, reflective space where students can explore challenges, develop self-awareness and build strategies that support their wellbeing.

Sessions focus on helping young people strengthen confidence, resilience and emotional understanding.

Outcomes for Schools

Through specialist mentoring and wellbeing coaching, students are supported to develop the confidence, self-awareness and practical strategies needed to engage more effectively with school and learning.

Schools may see improvements in:

• Emotional regulation and management of overwhelm
• Confidence and self-understanding
• Engagement with learning and school life
• Organisation and study skills
• Communication of needs and self-advocacy
• Independence in managing school demands

Support is structured but flexible, responding to the individual needs of each student.

Over time, the aim is to help students develop sustainable strategies that reduce reliance on support and enable them to navigate education with greater independence.

Mentoring and wellbeing coaching can complement existing SEND or pastoral provision within school.
